RFID-induced Privacy & Security Issues and Concerns

Around 2005, we have looked into the privacy and security issues and concerns that are uniquely different to existing thinking (personal privacy, corporate privacy, access control, etc) when RFID-based supply chains are in context. As you can see from Figure 1, we are concerned about information to be shared among these parties and how data and information will show up with RFID-tagged products or WIPs moving along the supply chain.

Over the years since then, we continue with the idea. We tried as a RGC proposal and was shot down because there were no theory-based approach in articulating our proposed model. We tried also to approach in the 'design science' approach and yet to arrive a comfortable, discernable grounding for the issues. In the RGC proposal we suggested the RBAC model is insufficient to deal with the problem at hand and proposed the ReBAC model (as shown in Figure 2).

Anyhow, we are at the point of finalizing our manuscript on 'Supply Chain Visibility Entitlement: The ReBAC Model." Will let you know in time. [posted September 3, 2011]

The above discussion was the result of the project with focus on the garment industry, a press release was given by CCL Press Release.   Here are some references on the topics.
